What the badges mean
A badge is only useful if you know its limits. Each one below says what we checked and what we did not. We never promise that a person is good at their job or that a deal will work out.
- 0Not checked
What it means: We have not checked anything about this account, listing or item yet.
What it does not mean: This is not a warning. It only means nobody has looked yet.
- 1ID checked
What it means: We looked at this person's government ID and it matches the details on their account.
What it does not mean: It says nothing about whether they are good at their job or honest in a deal.
- 2Qualifications read
What it means: We read the qualifications, certificates or trading history this person sent us for their role.
What it does not mean: We did not confirm licences your country may require, and we did not speak to past clients. Ask for references.
- 3Company checked
What it means: We looked at this company's registration documents and they are in order.
What it does not mean: We did not look at the company's accounts, debts or how it runs day to day.
- 4Asset checked
What it means: We confirmed this exists and matches the listing. For land that means registry and survey checks. For machinery it means documents and evidence of condition.
What it does not mean: It is not a promise about title, condition or value, and things change after the date we checked.
- 5Full checks done
What it means: We ran a full set of checks, wrote up what we found, scored the risk, and published it for you to read.
What it does not mean: It is information to help you decide. It is not legal or financial advice, and it is not a guarantee.
Who said what
On every listing we keep these four apart, because they are worth very different amounts:
What the seller told us
Written by them. We have not confirmed it unless a badge says we did.
Documents we read
They sent a document and we read it. That is not the same as confirming it with the authority that issued it.
What we checked
We confirmed something against an outside source: a land registry, an ID, a company register.
Full checks by professionals
Work done by qualified people and published in full. Still information to help you decide, never legal advice.
Every check carries the date we did it, and some expire, because things change. Buying land? Check the title yourself at the government registry. Read staying safe before you send anyone money.
